About Skorch Magazine...

It all started when a girl named Jessica and a girl named Carrie were taking the steps to start a fashion-forward magazine to represent and empower the plus-size woman. These very creative, talented and motivated women were getting ready to set the world on fire all by themselves...

Then, fate stepped in. Jessica was invited to Carrie's birthday bash, and Jessica thought, why not! The girls had fun and realized very soon that they were business soul-mates (if there was such a thing) and that their skill sets perfectly complimented each other.

Two-and-a-half hours and one lunch later, Jessica and Carrie were united and Skorch was born. Since then, Skorch has added on a very talented and creative team that has helped build the brand and content of Skorch. Without these amazing individuals, Skorch would not be the magazine it is today.

The mission of Skorch Magazine is to empower and inspire plus-size women to find that beauty within themselves that they may not have believed was even there. Skorch vows to produce a credible fashion-forward plus-size magazine that will contain beautful images, inspiring articles, and the best style tips around. Think of it as InStyle, with a dash of People Style Watch and a pinch of Vogue.

We at SKORCH Magazine know that feeling confident and good about yourself is very important, so we created SKORCH Magazine, a revolutionary online magazine, so millions of teens and twenty-somethings can read about the latest in cool plus-size fashion.

Jessica Kane and Carrie Woomer, founders of SKORCH Magazine, come from very different ends of the spectrum, and both have valuable life lessons that they have learned and yearn to share with the twenty-something woman.

Offical Bio Snippet:
Jessica Kane is a marketer with over ten years experience marketing service industry businesses in the Pacific Northwest. In 2007, she co-founded the pioneering plus-size fashion e-magazine, SKORCH (www.skorchmagazine.com) with business partner Carrie Woomer, and is currently the editor-in-chief.

She is also the owner of the networking groups Power Lunch Network (www.powerlunchnetwork.com) and Clique Mixer (www.cliquemixer.com), which are spearheaded under her production company, Jessica Kane Presents. Clique Mixer has launched into a nationwide brand, and Clique Mixer Directors are joining from around the country to host Clique Mixers in their towns.

During the day, she works as the State Marketing Specialist for Oregon and SW Washington offices of American Family Insurance, and by night she is running her various networking groups and production comany as well as serving as the co-tournament director for the 10th Annual High Hopes Charities Golf Tournament. Under Jessica's direction and thoughtful execution, the tournament was rebranded "GOLF for HOPE" (www.golfforhope.org) in 2009.

Carrie Woomer, has four girls and has been a stay-at-home “mom-preneur.” At a very early age, Carrie struggled with weight issues and suffered from anorexia and bulimia. However, when she had children, she realized that she needed to embrace her body. That is what makes Carrie such an amazing role model today for any young woman struggling with her body image; she’s a first-hand expert on plus-size women and the torture of anorexia and bulimia. Carrie is the producer of SKORCH TV.

Together, Jessica and Carrie are determined to make a difference and send a positive message to the fashion world. They founded SKORCH Magazine for its fun fashion and beauty, but more importantly, as a vehicle to empower young women to fully embrace themselves.

This alone is the driving force behind all things SKORCH and its tremendous popularity since its launch in January 2007. There is no other magazine like it. SKORCH Magazine fills the void when it comes to offering tips, advice, opinions, fashion, and self-acceptance for ladies that are size 12 or larger.

Jessica and Carrie’s captivating personality is often explained as the “Jessica and Carrie Show,” as most who meet the dynamic duo get a first-hand understanding why these ladies have been chosen to spread their undying love of fashion and all things fabulous.
